In Spotlight: Super Facialist by Una Brennan Clay Mask

It's Cultured Super Facialist by Una Brennan Pore Purifying Clay Face Mask Boots Blog Review
Right now I'm giving the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Salicylic Acid Anti-Blemish Pore Purifying Clay Mask (deep breath at the world's longest name) credit where credit is due. Face masks are something I don't often take much notice of. On a 3 for 2 deal in Boots, I thought I'd pick one up, which I'd seen ViviannaDoesMakeup review, and give it a try. I've really wanted the Origins Charcoal Mask for quite some time. Being a student and not even being able to afford to eat at times, I thought I'd pick up the Una Brennan Face mask instead, which Anna (ViviannaDoesMakeup) had compared as a dupe to the Origins. On the packaging, it says it is a detoxifying mask that helps unclog your pores and lets your skin breathe. It went straight in my basket.

Skincare Disclaimer

Before I start, I feel like I need to do a bit of a Skincare disclaimer.
1- Sometimes whatever works for me, will not necessarily work for you.
2- My skin currently is Combination, with breakouts on my forehead. I sometimes get dry patches and oily patches on my skin.
3-  I have blackheads and rough texture on my nose.

Trial Time

As I said, this product is getting credit where credit is due. I've been trialing this product for about 4 months now, only using it when I feel my skin is looking dull, lifeless and full of blemishes. In the opening I said, I have never been one to really take much notice or splurge on a face mask. I'd prefer to invest in a skin care routine and I tended to only really buy a Lush face mask or shamefully one in a Superdrug or Boots own packet. Yes! I can hear the skin care guru's cringing, I mean I'm cringing myself! Like I said, I picked this up purely as it was on a 3 for 2 offer in Boots and because I had seen Vivianna Does Makeup talk about it in a video and on her blog.

As it says on the packaging, you use the face mask once or twice a week (depending on your skin's condition). Now my skin has recently had a massive flare up at the moment, which no doubt is down to stress and also eating badly (oops). I will note I have totally avoided crap food for about a month now and focused solely on eating healthily and I have been using many other skin care products alongside this. Check out my skin care routine here! So you would think, is it even noticeable that this helps my skin?

And in answer to that, yes it is! I usually apply the mask in the evening, on a cleansed, clean and dry face. When I wake up in the morning, my skin looks decongestedglowy and fresh for the morning. This mask doesn't leave your face looking extremely red either. So, I have been known to use the mask in the morning too, when my skin has not woken up with me. Overall, I wouldn't say it is an intense mask, but I do mix up how I use the mask. For example, I tend to get many blackheads on my nose or on my chin. I will sometimes just apply the mask in these areas and use more of an exfoliating or moisturising mask for the rest of my face. That's the beauty of a clay mask. You can change up the way you use it and I wouldn't necessarily, always, suggest applying it to your whole face. The mask is thick in texture, so a little does go a long way. The scent is an extreme floral scent, which can be overpowering. But as the product should only be on the skin for 5 minutes, it doesn't become too overpowering.

As always with Una Brennan's products, there are many skin care ingredients that are beneficial in many ways. Within the face mask, its main ingredient is Salicylic Acid, which is proven to help unclog congested skin. But it also contains Avocado Oil (rich in Vitamins A, D, E),  Dead Sea Mud (includes magnesium, calcium, and iron) and Acacia Honey. All of which detox your skin and help your skin to rebalance itself to reveal a clearer and more refreshed-looking complexion. So when the product says 'it feels like you have had an expert facial every day', believe it. It genuinely does.

Note: Una Brennan is currently on offer in Boots at a discounted price. The Mask is currently £6.66 and was £9.99. Direct link at the bottom of the post.

Overall

Since adding this face mask into my skincare routine, my skin has really started to clear up. Goodbye, breakouts, goodbye blackheads and hello fresh glowy skin. It has made my skin look healthy and feel hydrated, smooth and moisturised. I'm definitely going to expand on owning Una Brennan products and add more to my collection. Hearing so many great reviews and the clay mask succeeding in my trial has installed my absolute faith in the brand. As I said this is a post where credit is definitely due. I would only share a product with you that I genuinely believe everybody needs this in their life and has made a significant difference for me. So there it is... my product in the spotlight!

  1. Great review! And the product sounds great, unfortunately I am allergic to salisylic acid :/ I like to use a clay mask by body shop. It warms up when you apply it on face and feels so relaxing! The Lush ones are good as well though!
