Holiday Essentials

Holiday Essentials It's Cultured
In a few days time, I'll be jetting off on a plane to the beautiful island, Crete. Thank the lord, I say as it's currently thundering in the UK. In preparation for the holiday, I have purchased a few makeup products and travel size items that are my holiday essentials this year. Are you like me and purchase a whole new wardrobe before a holiday? Or are you the type of person who panics at the airport because you have forgotten most of the items you should of bought? Hopefully this post will give you some inspiration on what to pack for your holiday. Each year when it comes to holiday purchases, I like to try a variety of products and change up my moisturisers. This year I collated a bunch of products I can see being frequently purchased for upcoming holidays.

It's Cultured Holiday Essentials Body and Hair

Body:

Moisturiser and Body Scrub:
In preparation of getting a good tan, I will always scrub my skin until it's raw with a decent exfoliator. Exfoliating before going on holiday and at the beginning is great for removing any dead skin cells. Having said that, if you are not an outdoors person and wish to sustain your tan for as long as possible, avoid exfoliating at all costs. If you are an outdoors person, however, and are great at catching a tan invest in a good scrub. Your skin will instantly feel smoother and fresher. As for moisturiser, leave your thick creams at home. Lightweight moisturisers that are perfect for keeping your skin hydrated and refreshed, but, also, sink into the skin instantaneously are the ones to pack. For both moisturiser and body scrub, my holiday essentials are from The Body Shop Pinita Colada Range. The Pinita Colada Body Butter is very lightweight for The Body Shop Butters, so do not be fooled. They also do mini versions of the body scrub and the body butter, which are perfect for travelling and very inexpensive.

Aftersun:
Inevitably, we all pack a tonne of suncream but Aftersun is not always considered. Personally, Aftersun is my ultimate holiday essential. It helps sustain my tan and also prevents peeling. The lightweight creams are great at soothing the skin (post-sun), rehydrating it and, as I said, preventing peeling. There are many amazing after sun products out on the market, but my personal favourite is the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun. Another great product, post-sun is Organic Aloe Vera Gel. If you burn easily or suffer with dry skin, this is a great holiday essential for instant help. Aloe Vera Gel helps to soothe, soften and moisturise the skin back to life.

Hair:

Shampoo and Conditioner:
When in the sun, my hair pays the price. It becomes extremely straw-like and is in need of instant restoration. Whenever I go on holiday, I always purchase a shampoo and conditioner that are enriched with oils. A product that took my eye in the Boots travel size section was the OGX Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. Both hair products state they penetrate the hair shaft restoring shine and softness while helping to protect your hair against harmful styling heat and UV damage.

Skincare:

Face Mask Capsules*:
Instead of taking a giant tub or long tube full of face mask, the face mask capsules are the perfect travel sized item. Each capsule contains the right amount to treat your skin after a long day in the sun. Your complexion and skin will thank you for these little holiday goodies. Nugg Beauty has a fantastic range of face mask capsules. The ones I have here are perfect for combination skin.

Face Mask Capsules (Also available on Beauty Bay)

Toner*:
Flying can really suck the life out of my skin and cause me to breakout. The sun can also bring out my pores. La Roche-Posay's Serozinc is designed for oily and blemish-prone skin, offering immediate anti-shine, anti-grease and pore tightening benefits. They recently have just bought out a 50ml size, which is perfect for travelling. This is by far a holiday essential in my travel bag, whether it be to spritz on the flight to rehydrate my skin or in the morning to keep my skin from being greasy.

For a full review on the Serozinc and how I use it, head to my Morning Skincare Routine. The 50ml Serozinc is available at all Boots stores.

Makeup:

Lip gloss:
As for lip gloss this summer, I was on the hunt for something which could be worn alone or with many different lipstick shades. Elizabeth Arden came out with a new range named Sunset Bronze, specifically for the summer as limited edition. Within this collection, full of gorgeous holiday essentials, there it was the most beautiful lip gloss I have ever laid my eyes on. The shade is 'Sunset Kiss 03' from the Elizabeth Arden Sunset Bronze Prismatic Lip Glosses, which is the most beautiful golden shimmer. The range was inspired by vibrant horizons and has lustrous pigments and multi-dimensional pearls, which has the most amazing light-reflecting effect. Not only this, the lip glosses have Aloe Vera in it (that hydrates the lips) and Vitamins A, C and E, which soothe, protect and restore the lips.

Bronzer:
It is inevitable, we all want to be bronzed in the sun, especially when it comes to night time glam. But I also like to be glowing and bronzed. Yes, that does mean excess highlighter! But what if you can get your hands on a product that can do both? And what if you can get it for just £7.99? Tempting... Right? The Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder in Gold gives exactly that. The effect is a gorgeous golden glow, which can also be used as a highlight or an eyeshadow. The powder is a multi-tasking product, which ensures you sustain that healthy golden glow all night long. Sounds like a holiday essential to me!

Blush:
A blush for summer requires two things, to add glow and have a peachy undertone. Of course it would be perfect if the product could be used for more than one thing. After a dedicated internet search, I thought I would try a blush from The Balm called 'Hot Mama'. I mean after Mary Lou Manizer took centre stage for being the best highlighter last year, their blush was obviously going to have the same effect. If you are looking for a beautiful rose golden, slightly peachy, blush for the summer, this is your guy! Not only this, it also works amazingly as an illuminating eyeshadow. Perfect for a holiday!

  1. I'm so obsessed with the Pinita Colada range from the Body Shop <3 and Serozinc is so amazing for summer too because I always seem to get spotty in the heat and sun!
